In Slovenia, the following types of companies exist:

Limited liability company (d.o.o.): the most common and widespread form of company,
Unlimited company (d.n.o.): one of the lesser known and used forms of legal organisation,
Sole trader (s.p.): a natural person who carries out a self-employed gainful activity on the market in the form of an organised business. Only an individual natural person can be a sole trader,
Public limited company (d.d.): a company whose share capital is divided into shares and that is represented by a legal person,
Limited partnership (k.d.): a partnership of two or more persons in which at least one partner is liable for the obligations of the partnership with all their assets, while at least one partner is not liable for the obligations of the partnership,
Social enterprise: committed to strengthening social solidarity and society's capacity to tackle social, economic, environmental and other problems,
Society: an association of at least three persons with legal capacity, formed on the basis of common interests and having a non-profit character,
Cooperative: an organisation of an indefinite number of members that promotes the economic benefits and develops the economic or social activities of its members.

Almost half of employees work in small companies. Small and medium-sized enterprises account for 99.8% of all enterprises in Slovenia. They employ almost 70% of people. The largest share of businesses consists of sole traders and companies.

Core Activities: The aim of the SPOT is to support and help potential entrepreneurs and companies facing entrepreneurial challenges in the region and to improve the entrepreneurial culture. The SPOT offers advice in various fields and assistance to would-be entrepreneurs in registering and carrying out other electronic procedures through the eSPOT portal. It organises free workshops, training, events to exchange good practices and open business opportunities for networking, strengthening the knowledge, skills and additional competences of existing businesses and potential entrepreneurs. It promotes regional networking between businesses, chambers, schools, associations and other institutions.
